II. Player Divisions

Open, Pro Masters, Advanced, Advanced Masters, Advanced Women, Intermediate, Recreational, and Juniors.

Other divisions are available at the Tournament Director's consent.

Note that the term "Amateur" or "AM" does not apply due to payouts in all divisions (not anymore, anyway.)

Suggestions on which divisions to play:

Juniors: <13 years old.

Rec: for beginning and casual players who are learning basic Frisbee and disc golf skills. Throw 175 to 300 feet, make 3-5 / 10 putts from 20 feet, and can throw backhand with some accuracy.

Intermediate: Developing players who have are gaining consistency and experience. Throw 250-350 feet, make 5-7 / 10 putts from 20 feet, and learning different shots.

Advanced: Tournament experienced players who have developed consistency. Throw 300-400 feet, make 5-7 / 10 putts from 25-30 feet, and have different shots in their arsenal.

Sandbaggers will not be tolerated by the players.

IV. TD Responsibilities

1. Post start time and entry fees in the forum.

2. Payout spots and breakdowns should be posted or announced in between rounds of your event. Please use payouts based on the MPT calculator (it's a PDGA knock off, and you need Microsoft Excel to open.)

If you do not have access to Excel, use this Payout Chart

3. Call in results to Ian at 207-272-2974 (preferably right after the Event.) or post in the forum.

4. MPT $$$ is given to the designated MPT $$$ holder at the end of the event.

V. Points

1. Players will earn points at each event they attend for the division they participate in. A players points will be totaled together after each Event with his/her points prior to the Event. Standings will be kept and posted on mainediscgolfers.com after each event. Here is how the points system will work:

Last place: 1 point, 2nd from last: 2 points , 3rd from last: 3 points. The points will increase one point per spot until you get to the top.

The top three players in each division will be awarded bonus points 1st place: 10 bonus points, 2nd place: 5 bonus points, 3rd place: 3 bonus points.

3 bonus points will go to any player for an ace during an Event.

If a tie occurs, points and cash will be split. Exceptions are 1st place ties, which would result in a play off.

VI. Qualifying for the Maine Players Championship (MPC)

1. A player must finish in the top 1/2 of the regular season standings to qualify for his/her division at the Maine Players Championship.

2. Winning an Event in the regular season does not necessarily qualify a player for the MPC. It will be based on points alone.

3. A player must attend at least 2 events in the same division to be eligible to play in the MPC.

VII. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Why does the Players Tour pay out all it's divisions? Contrary to the PDGA standards, the MPT pays all divisions for simple reasons: keeping it simple. This concept eliminates the need for TDs to find alternative prizes, and solves the controversial issues with value. Less problems = more fun.

2. What is the MPT$$$ for? Where does it go? It accumulates with all the $$$ from the other events, and at the end of the season it goes back to the players in the Maine Players Championship; minimal entry fees, added cash, prizes, etc.
