Pro (Men, Women, Masters)

Advanced (Men, Women, Masters)

Intermediate(Men, Women)

 Recreational and Juniors.

Other divisions are available at the Tournament Director's consent.

Note that the term "Amateur" or "AM" does not apply due to payouts in all divisions (not anymore, anyway.)

Suggestions on which divisions to play:

Juniors: <13 years old.

Rec: for beginning and casual players who are learning basic Frisbee and disc golf skills. Throw 175 to 300 feet, make 3-5 / 10 putts from 20 feet, and can throw backhand with some accuracy.

Intermediate: Developing players who have are gaining consistency and experience. Throw 250-350 feet, make 5-7 / 10 putts from 20 feet, and learning different shots.

Advanced: Tournament experienced players who have developed consistency. Throw 300-400 feet, make 5-7 / 10 putts from 25-30 feet, and have different shots in their arsenal.

Sandbaggers will not be tolerated by the players.

III. Money

Green's Fees will be determined by the course owners and TD's selected to represent the course.
- If the course owners would like to recognize that we will be bringing copious amounts of disc golfers to their course and want to give a discounted greens fee, that is their decision alone.

Also, the fees for CTP prizes will also be determined by each individual course...
- Some courses like to give plastic as a prize, some choose to give cash.
- Also donated CTPs are always welcome.

Both of these fees will vary according to course, but will be each individual courses decision.
You have to pay to play...

Next,

Here are the fees for all divisions....

Open (Men/Women/Masters) = $25 (mandatory pay out fee) + $5 (mandatory MPT fee) = $30 mandatory fee
+ Greens Fees (at course owner and TD's discretion)
+ Optional Ace Pot and CTP prizes

Advanced (AM1/Adv. Women/Adv. Masters) = $15 + $3 = $18 mandatory fee
+ Greens Fees
+ Optional Ace Pot and CTP prizes

Intermediate (AM2/Intermediate Women) = $10 +$1 = $11 mandatory fee
+ Greens Fees
+ Optional Ace Pot and CTP prizes

Recreational = $5 + no mpt fee
+ Greens Fees
+ Optional Ace Pot and CTP prizes

 5. Any MPT $$$ taken at the Event is to be handed to the designated MPT $$$ holder at the Event.

V. Points

Players will earn points at each event they attend for the division they participate in. A players points will be totaled together after each Event with his/her points prior to the Event. Standings will be kept and posted on mainediscgolfers.com after each event. Here is how the points system will work:

Last place: 1 point, 2nd from last: 2 points , 3rd from last: 3 points. The points will increase one point per spot until you get to the top.

The top three players in each division will be awarded bonus points 1st place: 10 bonus points, 2nd place: 5 bonus points, 3rd place: 3 bonus points.

3 bonus points will go to any player for an ace during an Event.

Ties and playoffs: If a tie occurs for 1st place in a division, a playoff should occur. All other ties would split cash and points.

1/4 of the Pro purse will be paid out to the top 4 players in points (Pro division only.)

VI. Qualifying for the Maine Players Championship (MPC)

1. A player must finish in the top 1/2 of the regular season standings to qualify for his/her division at the MPC.

2. Winning an Event in the regular season does not necessarily qualify a player for the MPC. It will be based on points alone.

3. A player must attend at least 4 events in the same division to be eligible to play in the MPC.

4. A player who attends 12 or more Events is automatically qualified for the MPC.

VII. Online Pre-registration

New for 2011, pre-registration online will be available starting March 5th.

Players are strongly encouraged to register for events, as a majority of the courses in Maine will have player capacity limits.

Online pre-registration will open 6 weeks prior to the Event, and close 2 weeks before the Event date.

If the Event is not full after online registration closes, spots will be available on a first come first serve basis the day of the Event.

Courses may hold spots as qualifiers and awards; the remaining spots will be available online. The processing fee is $2.

VIII. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Why does the Players Tour pay out all it's divisions? Contrary to the PDGA standards, the MPT pays all divisions for simple reasons: keeping it simple. This concept eliminates the need for TDs to find alternative prizes, and solves the controversial issues with value. Less problems = more fun.

2. What is the MPT$$$ for? Where does it go? It accumulates with all the $$$ from the other events, and at the end of the season it goes back to the players in the Maine Players Championship payouts.

3. Why must I pre-register for Events? Will there be room if I just show up the day of? Online pre-registration guarantees yourself a spot in the Event; the growing attendance each year has showed the need for this. Pre-reg allows the course and money holders to sort out $$$ ahead of time and overall will help the flow of the Event.
